Chowning tailors her advocacy to each of her clients’ needs in a variety of business matters including intellectual property, privacy, partnership and contract disputes, and employment. She is a seasoned litigator with experience in individual and class actions, Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) representative actions, as well as securities and derivative matters.
Chowning has been recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America, 2025 Edition, as well as by Super Lawyers Magazine as a Northern California Super Lawyer from 2023 to 2025, and as a Rising Star every year from 2017 to 2022. She has been included in San Francisco Magazine’s Top Women Attorneys in Northern California from 2017 to 2021. Chowning is an active advocate for civil rights and social justice. She is co-chair of the San Mateo Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Northern California. Between 2018 and 2024, she served as a director on the board of the ACLU of Northern California.
