  • Billy Chan, Managing Partner

    Billy is the Managing Partner of the firm. His practice covers business transactions, commercial contracts, and outside general counsel services.

    Billy is an active member of the legal community. He is a Past President of both the Asian American Bar Association and the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California.

  • Mark Punzalan, Partner & Head of Litigation

    Mark is the Head of Litigation at Chan + Punzalan where he leads the firm’s litigation matters in the areas of trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, and commercial litigation.

    Mark has been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine as one of the Top 100 Northern California Super Lawyers for six consecutive years (2020-2025), and Chan + Punzalan has been honored by the Daily Journal in its Top Boutique Law Firms in California list.

  • John S. Hong, Partner & Head of Employment Law

    John brings nearly twenty years of HR, employment, and workplace law experience to the firm, from advice, counsel, and training, to class action and PAGA representative action litigation.

    John most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer of a biotech startup company in Silicon Valley, where he was responsible for Legal, HR, and Operations that spanned the U.S., Japan, Korea, and China.

  • Chowning Poppler, Partner

    Chowning tailors her advocacy to each of her clients’ needs in a variety of business matters including intellectual property, privacy, partnership and contract disputes, and employment. She is a seasoned litigator with experience in individual and class actions, Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) representative actions, as well as securities and derivative matters.

    Chowning has been recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America, 2025 Edition, as well as by Super Lawyers Magazine as a Northern California Super Lawyer from 2023 to 2025, and as a Rising Star every year from 2017 to 2022.   • Angelica Zabanal, Attorney

    Angelica advises clients on commercial contracts and other types of business contracts and transactions. Her background in commercial litigation, privacy, and general liability uniquely positions her to counsel clients across a wide range of business matters.

    She has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, an honor awarded to only 2.5% of attorneys under 40. In 2023, she was named a “Lawyer on the Fast Track” by the California Legal Awards.

    As a former law clerk to two federal district judges, Jeremy Faulkner knows how to carefully evaluate the trial record and how to communicate complex material in an understandable manner.     Erik serves as the firm's legal assistant and provides general administrative office support assisting all attorneys with various projects and tasks ranging from records management, inventory of office supplies to filing legal documents and helping prepare for trial.
